Weakness

Anemia is a medical condition in which the body does not have enough healthy red blood cells. Anemia can cause fatigue, weakness, and other symptoms. There are many different types of anemia, but the most common type is iron-deficiency anemia. This type of anemia occurs when the body does not have enough iron to make healthy red blood cells. Iron-deficiency anemia is often caused by blood loss, but it can also be caused by poor diet or absorption problems. Treatment for iron-deficiency anemia typically involves taking iron supplements and eating a diet that is rich in iron.

Shortness of breath

The key signs of anemia are a pale complexion, fatigue and weakness, an accelerated heart rate and shortness of breath with the

slightest effort,” said study lead author Luz Maria De-Regil, M.D., Ph.D., senior program officer at the Micronutrient Initiative in Ottawa, Canada. “As iron is necessary to transport oxygen to all parts of the body, a shortage of iron can leave us feeling tired and weak.”

The researchers included 5,000 women who were part of a larger trial involving almost 25,000 pregnant women from 24 states in Mexico. At

the outset, the women were screened for depression, and the researchers found that about 15 percent of the group had symptoms.

Participants were then randomly assigned to one of the following three groups: the first group received standardized care, the second group received a combination of standardized care and medical treatment using the antidepressant fluoxetine, and the third group received standard care plus cognitive behavioral therapy, which focuses on changing negative thinking patterns.

Heart palpitations or rapid heartbeat

Anemia is a condition in which your blood has a lower than normal number of red blood cells. This can lead to symptoms such as fatigue, shortness of breath, heart palpitations, pale skin, and more. Iron deficiency anemia is the most common form of anemia, and it can be caused by things like blood loss, pregnancy, and certain chronic illnesses. If you’re experiencing any of these symptoms, see your doctor for diagnosis and treatment.

Chest pain

Iron-deficiency anemia is a common type of anemia that occurs when your body doesn’t have enough iron. Iron is a mineral that’s necessary for healthy red blood cells (RBCs). RBCs carry oxygen from your lungs to the rest of your body.

If you have iron-deficiency anemia, you may experience symptoms such as:
Tiredness
Shortness of breath
Chest pain
Headache
Pale or yellow skin

Cold hands and feet

Anemia sufferers often experience cold hands and feet even in warm weather because of poor circulation. Less blood is delivered to the limbs, resulting in a feeling of coldness. Other signs of iron deficiency include strange cravings, depression, frequent infections, and cold hands and feet. Children and older adults share symptoms, but the severity may differ.

Red blood cells contain hemoglobin, which is a protein that transports oxygen from your lungs to the rest of your body. When you have anemia, your body doesn’t get enough oxygen-rich blood, and this can cause a variety of symptoms, including:

fatigue
dizziness
shortness of breath
